Jason is a trial lawyer who practices commercial litigation in a wide range of substantive areas, with a special emphasis on litigation involving the construction, real estate, agribusiness and financial services industries. Jason has represented design-build firms, general contractors, specialty contractors, food companies, property management companies, real estate owners and lenders in various courts, arbitrations and administrative hearings. He also has experience handling disputes involving international trade, business torts, unfair competition, health care fraud, non-compete agreements, product liability and medical malpractice. A portion of Jason's practice also includes serving as a mediator for parties in civil disputes. Jason, who is a former trial and appellate lawyer with the United States Navy Judge Advocate General's Corps, has been recognized by Minnesota Law & Politics as a Rising Star®.

  • Represented international EPC contractor against multi-million dollar design defect claims arising out of design and construction of 50 million gallon per year ethanol facilities.
  • State v. Lombardo Bros. Mason Contractors, Inc., 90 A.2d 983 (Conn. Super. 2009).  Dismissed product liability and design defect claims for national curtainwall and window manufacturer.
  • G&K Services, Inc. v. Syswa, Inc. et al. (D. Minn. 2006).  Advised uniform supplier on product recall and obtained multi-million dollar jury verdict for client to recover recall damages against soap manufacturer.
  • In re Buckmaster, 755 N.W.2d 570 (Minn. Ct. App. 2008).  Helped establish important legal precedent for health care industry on the admissibility of administrative disciplinary agreements in medical malpractice cases.
  • Aaron v. Crooks, 2006 WL 91454 (Minn. Ct. App. Jan. 17, 2006).  Obtained multi-million dollar jury verdict for clients on breach of contract claim.
  • Afremov v. Amplatz, 2004 WL 77851 (Minn. Ct. App. Jan. 13, 2004).  Assisted in obtaining injunction for minority shareholder to prevent controlling shareholders from taking actions to freeze out client, which ultimately resulted in successful multi-million dollar buy-out settlement .
  • Represented midwest-based companies in contract disputes with international trading partners in Asia and Europe.
  • Represented international and national contractors and design firms in construction disputes involving defective design, defective construction and delay claims.
  • Represented lenders in commercial foreclosures and receivership actions, and loan workouts involving in excess of $50 million in secured credit.
  • Advised and represented numerous property owners and real estate management companies in landlord-tenant disputes, mechanic's liens claims, partition actions, easement disputes, property tax appeals and eminent domain proceedings.
  • Represented United States Navy in hundreds of appeals before the Navy-Marine Courts of Criminal Appeals and Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces as both an active duty officer and reserve officer in the United States Navy Judge Advocate General's Corps.
  • Appeared before the Minnesota Supreme Court, Minnesota Court of Appeals, and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
