Andre LaMere is a member of the Labor and Employment practice group. Andre counsels clients on employment-related issues, including conducting investigations, disciplinary actions, and addressing issues arising under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and the Fair labor Standards Act (FLSA). Andre has represented employers in state and federal court as well as in administrative proceedings before the Minnesota Department of Human Rights. Recently, Andre teamed with his colleagues to win a precedent-setting, multi-million dollar verdict following a three-month class action trial on behalf of 56,000 current and former Wal-Mart workers, enforcing terms of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Andre has been recognized as a Rising Star by Minnesota Law & Politics. Andre has presented at CLEs on topics ranging from workplace arbitrations to life insurance fraud.

Andre received his bachelor's degree, cum laude, in Psychology from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. He received his J.D. magna cum laude, from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he was an editor of the William Mitchell Law Review. In addition, he also participated in several legal clinics. Prior to joining Maslon, Andre worked in both the Marketing and Legal Departments at Northwest Airlines.

  • Obtained multi-million dollar arbitration award on behalf of manufacturer in dispute with distributor over marketing efforts.
  • Successfully defended corporation against claim of breach of contract relating to purchase of software.
  • Successfully represented domain name holder in dispute with cybersquatter.
  • Protected bank creditor's rights from being discharged in a fraudulent bankruptcy filing.
  • Obtained numerous no probable cause findings on behalf of Fortune 500 companies and other major retailers relating to various charges of employment discrimination.

    Obtained partial summary judgment on behalf of insurance policyholder finding that Director's and Officer's policy did provide coverage.
  • Braun v. Wal-Mart, Inc.
    Obtained multi-million dollar verdict on behalf of approximately 56,000 former and current Wal-Mart employees relating to abusive wage and hour employment practices.
  • Christopher Anthony Roller v. David Copperfield's Disappearing, Inc.
    Obtained dismissal of lawsuit alleging employment dispute on behalf of world-famous magician.
