About the Conference:
Avoid Being Blindsided by the New AIA A201. For the first time in more than 50 years, AIA just published an edition of the AIA A201 General Terms and Conditions document that does not include AGC's endorsement logo. The 600-member AGC Board of Directors unanimously voted not to endorse the new AIA A201 based upon the substantial shift of risk to Contractors (General and Specialty) and other parties outside the design profession as well as a fundamental disagreement with the authoritative role of architect.
The conference allows you to listen and learn about:
- New risks, requirements, and restrictions Contractors will now face
- Specific possible corrective action to consider (including AGC's Preliminary Commentary on the new AIA A201)
- Insights into AIA A201's linear philosophical approach
- AGC's attempts to provide balance in the AIA A201 drafting process
The online presentation is hosted by Paul Hoffman, Chair of AGC's A201 Taskforce, which provided AIA comments on drafts A201 and James Duffy O'Connor, Past President of the American Bar Association (ABA) Construction Forum and AGC A201 Taskforce Member. Both provide unique insights into both the big picture view as well as the specific contractual provisions that will affect your business and risk profile when bidding a project that requires the AIA A201. The conference was facilitated by Brian M. Perlberg, Esq., Senior Counsel, Construction Law, Contract Documents Program. Associated General Contractors of America (AGC).
