John Provo to Present Keynote Address on "Transition Strategies for Family Business Owners" at the Society of Financial Service Professionals' Annual Meeting
John Provo, partner and member of Maslon's Estate Planning and Wealth Advisory Services Group, will present "Untying the Gordian Knot: Transition Strategies for Family Business Owners" at The Society of Financial Service Professionals annual ethics award program scheduled on May 22, at the Midland Hills Country Club in Roseville, Minnesota.
In the seminar, John will explore factors that are critical to the success of an effective transition plan, including ensuring adequate liquidity for the business owner, designing effective exit strategies for children who are not involved with the business, and close collaboration among the owner's trusted advisors. An alignment model will be presented as a useful way to think about transitions.
Financial Service Professionals will learn:
- How to recognize "transition" points in a family business enterprise, and how these transitions can impact key stakeholders' financial and retirement goals;
- How to understand the special liquidity needs of family business owners, and to design plans that respond to these needs;
How to approach business succession and/or leadership transition challenges for key clients with greater clarity of purpose and objectives;
- How to engage collaboratively with other trusted advisors to enhance the likelihood of achieving a successful transition and accomplishing the business owner's goals.
