Jon Parritz to Discuss Exxon Valdez Punitive Damages Ruling at Clarion Legal's Annual Supreme Court Update

Jon Parritz, Chair of Maslon's Competitive Practices Litigation Group, will speak on Exxon Shipping Co. v. Baker at Clarion Legal Education's annual Supreme Court Update CLE on August 13, 2008.  The annual seminar addresses Supreme Court decisions which affect the business world. Parritz will discuss the Exxon Valdez ruling in which the United States Supreme Court reduced the punitive damages award in the Exxon Valdez tanker spill case from $2.5 billion to $507.5 million. He will also examine the reasoning behind the decision in light of the Supreme Court's recent jurisprudence in the area of punitive damages including State Farm v. Campbell and BMW v. Gore.
