Susan Link, Joel Sommers, and Cindy Costello to Present at Minnesota Estate Administration Deskbook Seminar

Maslon attorneys Susan Link and Joel Sommers and paralegal Cindy Costello will present at the The Minnesota Estate Administration Deskbook Seminar on March 28, 2012. The seminar, provided by Minnesota CLE, will highlight key topics in Minnesota probate and non-probate practice covered in the new 4th Edition of the Minnesota Estate Administration Deskbook. Attendees of the seminar will also receive a copy of the Deskbook.

Susan Link, Course Chair of the seminar and Editor-in-Chief of the Deskbook, will join Cindy Costello to present "How to Open an Estate." Together, they will review the process and analysis of formal and informal probate, initial documentation, informal commencement, inventory and record keeping, bookkeeping, interim orders, and overview and analysis of disclaimers.

Joel Sommers will present "Analysis of Professional Responsibility Concerns." His session will cover the applicable rules including competence, scope of representation, diligence and communication, attorney's fees, conflicts of interest, attorney as witness, dealing with the court, and dealing with unrepresented persons.

Susan Link is Chair of Maslon's Estate Planning Group and works with families to plan the disposition of their assets, both during lifetime and at death, and to accomplish the optimal estate and gift tax planning for the clients through wills, trusts, and other instruments. Susan also works with families after the death of a family member to ensure that the client's wishes are achieved and that the plan they created is carried out. (View full bio.)

Joel Sommers is a member of Maslon's Estate Planning Group and practices in the areas of estate planning, probate and trust administration. In addition to working with individuals and families, Joel works with public charities and private foundations to achieve their goals and purposes through grants and program-related investments while maintaining tax-exempt status.
