My summer experience at Maslon could not have been beaten; it was exactly what I was looking for in a Summer Associate Program. I came to the firm hoping to get experience in commercial work, but knew that type of work was more difficult to assign. That being said, I spent more than half my summer working with the commercial department. I formed an LLC, drafted board resolutions, drafted multiple agreements, and became very familiar with the type of work the commercial group does on an everyday basis. Maslon knew what my interests were and they worked hard to allow me to get that type of work. In addition to the great work assignments, I was also able to attend many observation opportunities. I attended a shareholders' meeting, a deposition, a real estate closing, multiple client meetings, and multiple conference calls. These allowed me to see how attorneys spend a significant amount of their time. Although the projects and observation opportunities were wonderful, it was the people at Maslon that made the summer complete. Because of my associate mentor, partner mentor, writing mentor, and countless informal mentors, I felt early on that the people at Maslon wanted to help me have a successful summer. There were also many social events that helped me get to know the attorneys and support staff in an informal setting. These events helped me realize that the people at Maslon have interests and lives outside of the firm, which was a very refreshing realization. In summary, I had an incredible summer and would unconditionally recommend this firm to anyone who wants to practice law with a great group of people. <<previous | next>> |
