Scott Aberson I had high hopes and expectations when I began my search for a law firm to spend the summer with. Because I was unsure of the particular area of law I wanted to work in after graduation, I was looking for a firm that could offer me a sampling of high quality and complex work in the areas of litigation and business transactions. In addition, I sought a firm with intelligent, diverse, and hardworking attorneys committed to both their clients and the community as a whole. Finally, I desired a firm that recognized the importance of life and family commitments outside of work. In short, I can honestly say that my summer experience at Maslon greatly surpassed any and all of my expectations. Over the course of the summer, I had a chance to work on a variety of different projects tailored to my specific interests in the areas of litigation, employment law, and estate planning. These projects allowed me to get a general feel for different areas of the law and were reflective of the issues encountered in everyday practice. The summer program also offered a number of observational opportunities and the chance to participate in pro bono work. In addition, I had an opportunity to participate in several social events throughout the summer, including: the firm retreat, water-skiing, cooking classes, a theater production, sporting events, and a progressive dinner. Through these events, I had the chance to meet and socialize with Maslon attorneys outside of work. More importantly, however, these events offered me the opportunity to see Maslon attorneys for who they really are-individuals diverse in their interests and wholeheartedly committed to their clients, the firm, each other, and their lives and families outside of work. <<previous | next>> |
