  David J. Polgreen
  Associate, Business & Securities

I came to Maslon in 2002 from the corporate department of a very large New York firm with a sophisticated legal practice. My first priority in coming to a firm in the Twin Cities was to work in a firm with equally challenging and sophisticated work, in a dynamic setting with interesting colleagues. Maslon was the firm that best met those ideals for me.

I continue to work on high-stakes merger and acquisition transactions, high-profile public securities offerings and other commercial matters, with clients that are varied and exciting. The responsibility and expectation placed with me on my first day at Maslon was both intimidating and satisfying--and that is why I have stayed. I feel that, because of the team-like atmosphere at Maslon (where whoever is able and has the time does the work), I have a ton of front-line responsibility with firm clients, which I feel would have taken much longer to attain at other firms.

The other major priority I had when coming to the Twin Cities was to work with interesting people that had varied interests outside of work, along with the time to actually engage in them. Maslon is packed with people that I would want to talk to after the work day ends--not an easy achievement.

To be surrounded by smart people from so many different backgrounds makes for a great work environment, and a constant challenge to the intellect. Even in this intellectually charged environment, Maslon lawyers always look for the most practical approach to solving client problems, which was another appealing feature of Maslon.

Overall, Maslon felt like it would be the perfect environment to develop my legal skills, and my intuition has proven true in every way.
