I had a great summer working at Maslon, meeting fabulous people and learning about law. I was assigned interesting and qualitative legal projects, such as advising a small business regarding legal issues and compliance with new laws, writing relevant memos for clients and organizing a new LLC. I was included in client communications and interactions, and I developed professionally through attending client pitch meetings and board meetings.
At Maslon, I especially benefited from receiving personal and professional guidance from the lawyers with whom I worked. Asking questions and discussing unique ways to tackle projects is encouraged by the lawyers at Maslon, and through such interactions I expanded my thinking with respect to my assignments. My writing mentor was a significant teacher. Although busy, she always found time to give me feedback on written projects and help me improve my legal writing skills.
The summer associate coordinators were highly effective in organizing the program, ensuring all the summer associates had enough work and were constantly learning, but not overwhelmed. They also planned beneficial learning experiences, from an oral argument judged by several partners to social events and lunches that allowed the summer associates to develop professional relationships with the Maslon lawyers. I was especially impressed with the Maslon lawyers who are committed to pro bono work and volunteerism. I had the unique opportunity to participate at Legal Access Point, which offers services for people unable to obtain an attorney, and at Wills for Heroes, which provides services for firemen, policemen and first responders.
The energy of the attorneys at Maslon is unique and unrivaled. At the same time, the firm projects a well-balanced work environment.
