John Provo Shares Advice to Maximize Intellectual Property Assets in Upsize Magazine

John Provo, head of Maslon's Intellectual Property and Technology Services Group, offered commentary on maximizing intellectual property assets for the June 2011 issue of Upsize Magazine. John was among a shortlist of top local intellectual property attorneys who were interviewed for the article and asked to share insights on how business owners can safeguard their valuable but intangible assets, and most notably why owners should work to make their patents and trade secrets pay.

John's advice addresses a range of issues companies face, and how he helps clients develop and implement an IP strategy best suited to its unique strengths and resources. "Unless there's a commitment to enforce," John advised "you're probably not spending resources wisely to get protection in the first place." He also discusses common mistakes companies make with respect to IP and IT issues. The complete interview will also be published in Upsize Online this fall.

John Provo counsels information-based and interactive technology companies with respect to the acquisition, sale, and licensing of creative works, trademark selection, registration, licensing and enforcement strategies. John has also represented media and distribution companies in a broad range of transactions involving the distribution of intellectual property, software, and other creative properties outside the United States.
