David F. Herr Receives Marcy S. Wallace Award of Excellence in Leadership
David F. Herr, head of Maslon's Appellate Practice Group, was recognized with the Marcy S. Wallace Award for Excellence in Leadership by the William Mitchell Law Review. The presentation was made before a gathering of William Mitchell Faculty, Law Review members and their guests on April 3, 2009. Recipients of the Marcy S. Wallace Award are selected by Law Review members, based on leadership in the legal community and service to the Law Review.
Representatives of the William Mitchell Law Review stated, "We selected David because he organized the 25th Anniversary of the Minnesota Court of Appeals last November. He coordinated that symposium with several members of the legal community, and the event was attended by appellate practitioners throughout the state and by most judges on the Court of Appeals. The event was a huge service to the legal community and a lovely contribution to the state's legal history. He also helped the Law Review publish the contents of the symposium in our Minnesota Law issue and contributed an article to the issue. Thus, he served our Law Review well by securing the opportunity to publish a historical event and writing for it himself. More generally, he's considered one of the top appellate lawyers in the state and is a highly regarded leader in Minnesota's legal community as a partner at Maslon Edelman Borman & Brand."
David F. Herr is a highly regarded appellate lawyer and handles complex litigation cases. He is frequently sought out to provide practical and sophisticated advice on how to resolve difficult, multi-party disputes in trial courts and arbitral forums, as well as in the appellate courts. Herr served as President of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers (2006-2007) and President of the Academy of Court Appointed Masters (2007-2008). He regularly argues cases in the Minnesota appellate courts and the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals. He annotates the Federal Judicial Center's Manual for Complex Litigation, published and distributed nationally by Thomson West.
