Paul Chestovich Launches Small Public Company Forum
Attorney Paul Chestovich, partner in the Business & Securities Group at Maslon Edelman Borman and Brand, LLP, has launched the Small Public Company Forum, a new organization focused on providing relevant information on topics impacting small public companies.
Chestovich explains, "As smaller reporting companies begin implementing the final stages of Sarbanes-Oxley Act reform, the costs of being a public reporting company continue to mount and the complexities of being a public reporting company continue to grow. More than ever, smaller reporting companies need to stay informed and obtain advice about new and developing issues in a way that sensibly recognizes their budgeting and personnel constraints, and their tolerance for risk. We created the Small Public Company Forum to be a platform for the delivery of that information and advice."
The Small Public Company Forum will host periodic live gatherings to cover the most important issues facing smaller reporting companies, such as the Forum's successful "Inaugural Event" held at the Maslon Law Firm on June 24, 2009. Participating firms at the event included Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP, Carver Moquist & O'Connor, LLC, Feltl and Company, and Internal Control & Anti-Fraud Experts, LLC.
The Forum has also launched a unique website, smallpubcoforum.com, where Chestovich and guest writers post news on important legal and accounting developments. For example, a recent post contributed by Rachel Polson, audit partner at Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP, and Abigail Grenfell, president of Internal Control & Anti-Fraud Experts, LLC, offers information on financial reporting and the use of checklists as part of a continuing segment titled "Internal Control Tip of the Week."
