Our tax lawyers have helped business and nonprofit organizations determine whether or not individuals serving the entity should be classified as independent contractors or employees subject to employment taxes, and documenting that status in relevant contracts. We have also represented clients of all kinds in resolving complex disputes with state and federal employment tax authorities. These disputes are typically about employment taxes applied to individuals whom the client believed were independent contractors. We have represented entrepreneurs who are alleged to be personally liable for employment taxes that were not paid by his or her organization. We do not prepare employment tax returns.
