Mass Torts, MDL and Class Actions

Maslon has expertise in handling mass torts, class action and multi-district litigation. Maslon lawyers have served as national coordinating counsel in product liability mass tort litigation, on steering committees for mass disasters, and have advised clients facing all types of complex liability exposures. In addition to serving our clients, we have served as special masters in state and federal court class actions, and have been called upon to mediate settlements in these actions. One of our partners annotates the Federal Judicial Center's Manual for Complex Litigation, published and distributed nationally by West/Thomson.

Our experience with mass torts, class action and multi-district litigation includes litigating matters involving fluorochemicals, asbestos, latex gloves, bone screws, diet drugs, breast implants, and insecticides.

Maslon lawyers have considerable experience acting as local counsel in products liability and mass tort matters in both state and federal court. Because of our substantive depth we can take as much responsibility as national counsel desires. One of our attorneys is a leading expert on the Minnesota Rules of Civil Procedure. Because a significant part of our practice is in federal court, we are very familiar with local federal rules and the judges presiding over federal court cases.
