Overview

Joe Ruskey represents public and private companies, including emerging businesses, as well as investors like private equity firms, on transactional business matters in diversified industries. Joe carefully guides clients through mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, fund formations with their corresponding regulatory and compliance matters, financings, private placements, public securities offerings, and other general business issues. He also provides outside general counsel services and advises boards and shareholders on corporate governance issues and other sensitive matters.

Joe earned his juris doctor, cum laude, from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law. During his studies, he served as associate editor of the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology, one of the top 10 most widely subscribed journals published by American law schools. He also was appointed to the careers and clerkships committee of the Student Bar Association and served as a student interviewer for the admissions office. Prior to law school, Joe studied international affairs in Paris and earned a bachelor’s degree, cum laude, in English writing from Illinois Wesleyan University. At Wesleyan, the first theatrical play Joe wrote was staged and produced.
