Annika's dedication to the profession and the community is evident in her many activities. She has taken on leadership roles with Minnesota Women Lawyers and the Women's White Collar Defense Association, and she volunteers with the Minneapolis Reader/Writer program, among other roles. Annika is also engaged in pro bono work through the Pro Se Project and the Tubman Safety Project. Through her work with the former, she was recently able to assist an incarcerated individual in achieving a settlement related to excessive force they experienced at the hands of correctional officers.

While attending the University of Minnesota Law School, Annika served as a law clerk in the Hennepin County Public Defender's office. Schleicher’s induction ceremony took place Feb. 25 during the spring meeting of the College in Key Biscayne, Florida.

Founded in 1950, the American College of Trial Lawyers is composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Fellowship in the group is extended by invitation only and only after careful investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers of diverse backgrounds, who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality. Lawyers must have a minimum of 15 years trial experience before they can be considered for fellowship.

Schleicher, a former federal prosecutor and renowned trial lawyer, is the chair of Maslon's Investigations & White Collar Defense Group, where he concentrates on high stakes criminal and civil litigation, government and internal investigations, and appellate practice. He is experienced in high profile cases and was widely recognized for his role as a special prosecutor in the internationally televised homicide trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd and for his work prosecuting the man responsible for the kidnapping and murder of 11-year-old Jacob Wetterling.

Membership in the American College of Trial Lawyers cannot exceed 1% of the total lawyer population of any state or province. Ajouri assists organizations and individuals with general commercial litigation matters, with particular focus on intellectual property disputes. Ajouri received his law degree, summa cum laude, from Mitchell Hamline School of Law. While at law school, he completed more than 150 volunteer hours with the Minnesota Justice Foundation and was a published author with the Cybaris Intellectual Property Law Review. He also interned for the Honorable Edward T. Wahl of the Hennepin County District Court during his last semester of law school. Ajouri earned his bachelor's degree in Psychology and Music Technology from Keele University in Staffordshire, UK. 

Barton advises clients on general commercial litigation matters, concentrating her practice on employment, insurance coverage, and tort & product liability cases. Barton graduated, cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School, where she served as a staff member and lead student articles editor of Law & Inequality: A Journal of Theory and Practice. She was involved in student activities and held leadership roles, including co-president of the Student Employment and Labor Law Association. Krahn is a business litigator concentrating on general commercial matters. Before joining Maslon, Krahn served as a law clerk to the Honorable Matthew E. Johnson at the Minnesota Court of Appeals and taught constitutional law as an adjunct professor at Mitchell Hamline School of Law. Krahn received his law degree, summa cum laude, from Mitchell Hamline School of Law, where he served as Executive Editor of the Mitchell Hamline Law Review, participated in the Mitchell Hamline Fellows Program, and was honored several times with the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for achieving the highest grade in each class. During law school, Krahn also served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Magistrate Judge Tony Leung at the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota. Krahn received his bachelor's degree in piano performance, with distinction, from St. Olaf College. 

Schramm counsels business clients on general corporate and commercial law matters. Prior to becoming a lawyer, he founded and owned a financial planning and investment advising company, gaining valuable experience in client service, leadership, and strategy—all of which informs his work to help clients achieve their business goals. Schramm received his law degree, summa cum laude, from Mitchell Hamline School of Law, where he was honored multiple times with the CALI Excellence for the Future Award, an award given to the highest scoring student in each class. Jevon and Peter will discuss how social media platforms are influencing the way people communicate and how lawyers litigate. They will analyze some of the evidentiary considerations that courts have grappled with when it comes to social media in litigation.

Jevon focuses his work on construction and appellate litigation as well as general commercial matters. He provides practical advice to help his clients navigate all phases of their construction projects, from contract negotiations to asserting or defending claims. Jevon has significant trial practice experience, having taken complex construction matters to jury verdict, and he regularly prosecutes appeals in the Eighth Circuit as well as in Minnesota appellate courts. He is a member of the Minnesota Supreme Court Advisory Committee on the Rules of Evidence, and is active as a speaker and presenter on the topics of evidence and the rules governing federal and Minnesota state courts.

Peter is a business litigator focused on resolving construction, insurance coverage, and other commercial disputes. He regularly represents clients in state courts, federal courts, mediations, and arbitrations. The article highlights Bill's 45-year legal career at Maslon—from early inspirations to pivotal moments throughout his life, with a focus on several key pro bono and business litigation matters.

Noting that Bill “has built one of the state's most prominent business litigation practices,” the article recounts numerous high-stakes achievements for clients including a $200 million patent royalty dispute brought against Medtronic for which Bill was able to get all claims dismissed via summary judgement. Medtronic In-house attorney, Chad Hanson, offered, "Bill always finds a path to the endgame….he's one of the best on his feet in front of a judge. He'll know the record and keep his cool when he's getting grilled."

Amidst his thriving private practice, the article credits Bill’s longstanding commitment to the “greater good” through his attention to handling cases that have had a significant impact on civil liberties issues including racial equality and reproductive rights. Several of Bill's key civil-rights-focused cases at Maslon are featured, including a historic desegregation case in 1978—Booker v. Special School District No. 1—where he worked alongside former Maslon partner Chad Quaintance in representing the plaintiffs, successfully arguing that the Minneapolis School District was "intentionally segregating schools to the detriment of all school children." Bill shared, "That case set me on the course of working on cases that had some social significance."

"Bill is the amazing trial lawyer every client should want protecting their interests in high-stakes litigation," says Haley Schaffer, a former Maslon attorney who is now senior counsel at 3M. The magazine details several additional cases of impact, including representation of Planned Parenthood to challenge a Minnesota statute requiring parental consent for a minor to obtain an abortion, negotiation with "civic authorities on behalf of protestors at the 2008 Republican National Convention," and pro bono representation in 2012 of a coalition "challenging a proposed constitutional amendment that would requires Minnesota voters to present valid, state-issued IDs at the ballot box."

In closing, a statement is shared from Paul Anderson, a former Associate Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court: "I always appreciated attorneys like Bill because they make the system work. He doesn’t mind taking some unpopular cases to show how the rule of law is supposed to work in a democratic society."
