Terrance Newby Appointed Chair of the Firm's DEI Committee

July 18, 2023

Maslon is pleased to announce that Partner Terrance Newby has been appointed to serve as chair of the firm's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.

In this capacity, Terry helps lead efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion at the firm, in the legal profession, and in the community through leadership, active participation in, and support of a broad range of initiatives. In May, Maslon proudly achieved Midsize Mansfield Certification Plus status after completing a rigorous 18-month collaboration with Diversity Lab to track, measure, and achieve diversity in leadership.

Maslon is also a member of Twin Cities Diversity in Practice (TCDIP), a nonprofit association comprised of the leading Twin Cities legal employers with the vision to create a vibrant and inclusive legal community, and the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD), an organization of corporate and law firm leaders who have dedicated themselves to creating a truly diverse U.S. legal profession.

Other members of the Maslon DEI committee include firm Chair Keiko Sugisaka, partners Margo Brownell and Erica Holzer, and attorney Yemaya Hanna, as well as administrative leadership.

Terry, a litigation attorney, has extensive experience assisting clients with their intellectual property, e-commerce, and complex commercial litigation needs. He has successfully represented clients in state and federal courts throughout the country in a broad range of infringement matters involving patent, trademark, copyright, and trade dress as well as licensing disputes. In addition, Terry has taken intellectual property matters to trial, including federal jury trials in patent infringement, trademark infringement, and false advertising cases under the Lanham Act. His clients include software companies, consumer products companies, e-commerce and emerging technology companies, and medical device companies.
