Two Fastest Growing Companies in Health Tech Industry 'Unite': Maslon Serves as Transaction Counsel for Industry-Disrupting Acquisition

November 12, 2021

A Maslon team led by Partner Shauro Bagchi has proudly provided strategic legal counsel for the nation's premier action-oriented health analytics company, Carrot Health, Inc., since its early days as an emerging growth health-tech company. As a result, Carrot Health turned to Shauro when approached with a proposed acquisition by Unite Us, a technology company that builds coordinated care networks of health and social service providers in the U.S. The substantial deal between the two companies leverages Carrot Health's vast consumer health data resources to form the only nationwide solution for integration of health and social care.

Extensive preparation was necessary in advance of the deal, and the Maslon team carefully guided Carrot Health executives throughout the months-long process—working around the clock in the final days and weeks until the acquisition's successful completion in August 2021. Lead transaction counsel, Partner Shauro Bagchi, was joined in the effort by Partner Susan Markey, Attorney Ashley Olson, Partner Shawn McIntee, Partner Sara Sidwell, and Paralegal Tara Gardell.

Unite Us said in a press statement that the union of the two companies would bring additional resources to help healthcare organizations connect people with unmet social needs to community services throughout the U.S.

Carrot Health CEO Kurt Waltenbaugh added, "This combination is the realization of the vision we had from day one to capitalize on the understanding of the need and translating that into meaningful action to improve people's lives."
