Maslon Attorneys Recognized as Top Attorneys in Employment & Labor" in Super Lawyers® Corporate Counsel Edition

October 29, 2009

Maslon attorneys Mark Baumann and Howard Tarkow are recognized as "Top Attorneys in Employment & Labor" in the 2009 November/December issue of Super Lawyers-Corporate Counsel Edition. Baumann was selected for Employee Benefits/ERISA and Tarkow was recognized within the Labor & Employment section.

Super Lawyers - Corporate Counsel Edition follows a rigorous, multiphase process to select attorneys for Super Lawyers. Peer nominations and evaluations are combined with third-party research. Each candidate is evaluated on the following 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement: verdicts; settlements; transactions; representative clients; experience; honors and awards; special licenses and certifications; position within law firm; bar and/or other professional activity; pro bono and community service; scholarly lectures and writings; education and employment background; and other outstanding achievements. Selections are made on an annual, state-by-state basis. View full details on the selection process.

Mark Baumann has been a partner in Maslon's Business & Securities Group for than 25 years. His practice is primarily tax-related, including employee benefits, executive compensation, tax planning and tax disputes, partnerships, joint ventures, limited liability companies, other closely held businesses, professional firms and tax-exempt organizations.

Howard Tarkow has been a partner at Maslon for more than 25 years who focuses on representing employers on their workplace issues and concerns. Tarkow has advised Maslon's business and non-profit clients to help them maintain positive employee relations and minimize the risk of expensive and disruptive legal claims. He also represents employers in matters involving unions, including at the National Labor Relations Board, in grievance and arbitration cases, at the collective bargaining table, and in labor campaigns.
