Overview
Pia Puentespina is an attorney in Maslon’s Litigation Group who represents clients across a wide range of commercial disputes as well as trust and estate litigation matters.
While earning her J.D. at the University of Minnesota Law School, Pia competed on the law school’s National Moot Court Competition team, placing first in the regional competition and advancing to the quarterfinals of the national round. She was also a Maynard Pirsig Honors Oral Argument Finalist, a Civil Rights and Civil Liberties student instructor, and co-head student ambassador. Additionally, Pia served as a research assistant to Myron Orfield, supporting his work on residential segregation, fair housing law, and racial and economic integration in the Twin Cities. Pia also served as a summer associate during law school for Maslon (two summers) and Mortenson (one summer).
Prior to law school, Pia served as executive aide to the general counsel for Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan, managing extradition matters with the attorney general’s office. She also previously held roles in the governor’s office as a judicial, boards, and council appointments intern and with the Minnesota DFL as a political fellow.
Outside of work, Pia enjoys going to the St. Paul farmers’ market, attending live music events, and discovering new dog parks with her two dogs, a "super mutt" and a miniature Australian shepherd.
