Susan Link Honored with 2023 Minnesota Icon Award by Finance & Commerce

November 20, 2023

Maslon is pleased to announce that Susan Link, a member of the firm board of directors and partner in the Estate Planning Group, has been chosen to receive the 2023 Minnesota Icon Award by Finance & Commerce. The award recognizes her proven success throughout a lengthy and accomplished career, as well as her mentoring and community involvement. Among her notable accomplishments, Susan's work in Maslon's thriving Estate Planning Group since 1996, including her prior service as chair for more than a decade, has been key to its development into one of the top practices in Minnesota.

Susan has worked diligently on behalf of the profession; she was the editor of the Minnesota Estate Administration Deskbook (the leading resource for estate planning attorneys) for more than 20 years and continues to serve as co-editor; she also regularly presents Continuing Legal Education courses and speaks to professional groups. In addition, Susan serves as co-chair of the Public Service Committee of the Minnesota State Bar Association (MSBA) Probate, Trusts and Estates Section.

Susan's volunteer work includes serving as a trustee for the Basilica of St. Mary and as a board member and planned giving committee chair for the Basilica Landmark, whose mission is to preserve, restore, and advance the historic Basilica of Saint Mary for all generations. Most notably, Susan has served for 16 years as program director of Wills for Heroes and since 2006 as chair of the MSBA's Wills for Heroes Committee. The mission of Wills for Heroes is to provide quality, no-cost estate-planning services to Minnesota’s first responders and their spouses; Susan and her fellow volunteer lawyers have drafted more than 18,000 estate plans to date.

Susan will be profiled in the Minnesota Icons celebration publication in both Finance & Commerce and Minnesota Lawyer.
