Overview

Matthew Frerichs is a partner in Maslon's Estate Planning Group offering dedicated counsel in estate planning, trust and estate administration, guardianship and conservatorship law, and estate and trust litigation.

Matt's experience with complex estate planning law and his social work background make him uniquely equipped to navigate sensitive family dynamics while preserving his clients' legacy. He enjoys getting to know his clients and learning what goals and values are most important to them.

Matt frequently writes and presents on estate planning issues. His areas of expertise include mitigating risks in estate planning and the ethical issues attorneys face when working with clients with mental illness or diminished capacity.

Matt is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas, with a bachelor's degree in psychology, a master's in social work, and a law degree.

Matt believes firmly in giving back to the community and consistently provides pro bono services to clients, including serving on the board of trustees and participating in a legal clinic with the Jeremiah Program, a Minneapolis-based nonprofit dedicated to disrupting the cycle of poverty for single mothers and their children.
